Title: Has anyone run a ProTrack in Windows 7 Pro. XP mode in Worstation 3.54??
Post by: jvthorsley on November 13, 2015, 04:00:31 PM
Has anyone got a ProTrack to run in Windows 7 Professional in XP mode using Workstation 3.54.
I have installed this version of Workstation on the virtual XP system within Windows 7.
And found that on my main XP computer the device manager immediately picks up the ProTrack as soon as it is plugged into the PC's USB port as Huntron Devices\ Huntron ProTrack1, and shows a driver called hptusb.sys in C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers.
But plug the ProTrack USB cable into the virtual XP system and the computer beeps, but the Device Driver does not pickup that the hardware has just been connected to it. But the Toolbar on Windows 7 XP virtual mode does show" Huntron ProTrack 1 " but does not let me attach it. As on my comments below.
The USB driver hptusb.sys is in the drivers folder but the virtual XP mode just does communicate to the ProTrack.
Would really like to know if anyone else has done this and been successful in getting it to work. ???
XP mode does run as a 32 bit system.

Additional to this topic. When in XP mode although the Device Manager does not pick the my ProTrack when connected to the USB port, XP mode does show the Huntron ProTrack 1 is connected as shown here, and goes when the USB cable is pulled out.
If I click on this Huntron ProTrack 1,  I get another windows that says " Could not attach the USB device. You can attach the USB device to a different USB port or restart the virtual machine and try again " .
I have tried doing this but makes no difference.

Hello Curtis
In my attempts to get my ProTrack running in Windows 7 Professional in virtual XP mode should I set the compatibility of the setup files to Windows 95, 98/ Windows ME, NT Ver. 4 (Service Pack 5), or Windows NT to have any chance of getting my ProTrack talking?
That is when running Windows 7 Professional
in XP virtual mode?.
Curtis reply to this on email " Since the software is 32bit I would suspect that NT would be better for compatibility mode. "

Has anyone used Windows 7 Professional in XP mode and found it lacking compared to a computer running Windows XP?
Have to admit I have given up for the time being trying to get Workstation 3.54 working in Windows 7,  XP mode.
Lots of people looked at this problem, nobody tried it?????? No really ??
